This day marks the anniversary of the Buddha’s first turning of the Wheel of Dharma.
For seven weeks after his enlightenment, Buddha did not teach. Finally, encouraged by Indra and Brahma, he turned the Wheel of Dharma for the first time, at Sarnath, teaching the Four Noble Truths:
The truth (or reality) of suffering which is to be understood,
The truth (or reality) of the origin of suffering which is to be abandoned,
The truth (or reality) of cessation which is to be actualized, and
The truth (or reality) of the path which is to be relied upon.
On this day the effects of positive or negative actions are multiplied 10 million times.
